I am just a young man from Dallas, Tx who once had a dream of playing in the MLB. I followed that dream which led to a contract on the desk of a scout for a major team UNTIL the offer to play for an MLB organization was withdrawn due to my age.

With no other offers in place, I went back to working in corporate America. The plan was to work, save money, and like so many Americans, hopefully one day retire. There was one HUGE problem with that plan. I was never taught how to properly prepare to retire. I wasn't alone though.

There was one question that changed all that. "If your income stopped due to some unforeseen illness or reason, how would you continue to provide for your household?" Having no definitive answer to that question, I began to research a solution, and that research began at home.

Examining my own lineage, I discovered the men of my family had great reputations and last names to pass on, but that was the only legacy left behind. No land, property, valuables, or money of any sort. In the Bible, a part of Proverbs 13:22 reads, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, ..." Not speaking down on the legacy I follow, but I would like to create my own legacy and do just this.

After further research, I discovered this illiteracy wasn't just in my home but in the communities I grew up being a part of. I had to figure out what is the best way for me to reach and teach more people than I would ever have the opportunity to ever personally meet? Writing! That writing became my first book of more to come, "DON'T RETIRE BROKE."

I wrote this book to begin conversations that aren't had in many households, churches, family gatherings and many other places. I make the language so easy to understand that even a child would be able to explain it to an adult. I'm personally sick of seeing so many of my family members and friends, as well as elderly I respect rely on the same inadequate ways of retirement just to live on pennies of a fixed income.
